Love This Matcha!
Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2018

I just recently took the plunge and spent the money on this Organic Ceremonial grade Matcha by Matcha Konomi. For the last year I've been making Bulletproof Matcha every day at home, using some significantly cheaper Organic "Culinary" grade Matcha. I was finally educated about the quality difference between Culinary grade and Ceremonial grade by a friend of mine.

I was honestly shocked when I was introduced to Ceremonial grade Matcha. Ceremonial grade Matcha has no bitterness - whereas my Organic Culinary Matcha has a strong bitter seaweed taste / smell. The taste and flavor is clean on the palette, and its effects on me energetically are quite palpable. It was a significant difference between the two, so I have decided to buy a 1lb bag of this Akira Organic Matcha by Matcha Konomi via their website, as I go through ridiculous amounts of Matcha, and this tiny 30g tin could probably last me about a week to 10 days.

I have been a Puerh drinker for many years now, but have decided that Matcha really *is* my caffeine / stimulant of choice - as it works more effectively than any other caffeine at delivering clear, high vibrant energy, mental clarity, focus and all its many additional health benefits are astonishing.

Really enjoy my matcha! Becoming a matcha snob or connoisseur?
Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2018

I was first attracted to the Matcha Konomi packaging and the specifics on the matcha was what I was looking for, so I ordered a 1 oz tin at a very reasonable price. I didn't open it right away as I was finishing my previous matcha purchase. I've been drinking matcha for several years and have purchase matcha from grocery stores or online only to learn later that it had fillers or that it was a poor grade, not from Japan, not organic, not ceremonial grade. Perhaps it didn't matter so much at the time, as much as price did. But, and I blame finally experimenting with good quality matchas such as Matcha Konomi for this, I have become a Matcha Snob. I hung my head and turned up my nose yesterday at a dirtier green, bitter-smelling, weedy-tasting matcha. I felt obligated to tell the seller the quality of their matcha did not meet my expectations. I was impressed with Matcha Konomi's Akira, with it's beautiful green color when I opened the tin, and the sweet, fresh, grassy scent, and the smooth taste. Reminds me of my Golden Retriever who loves to eat a certain type of grass when we go walking. He'll turn his nose up at all the other grasses because he knows exactly what tastes the best. Grass snob! Oh well. Good job, Matcha Konomi!!

Love my Matcha!

I absolutely LOVE all the matcha from Matcha Konomi. I've bought this product in my local stores and online, and I truly prefer this one as to other matchas. When you open it up, it is naturally brighter than most other matchas I've purchased on Amazon. The taste is also a bit sweeter than others.

The drink gives me energy, but not like a twitching, over-excited energy like energy drinks give me. I keep this matcha in the fridge, so it will last longer.

Sometimes, I make a simple matcha latte using almond milk and the matcha in a single serve blender. Often, I use it in the morning after I workout. I simply put almond milk, a scoop of protein powder, and the matcha in a blender bottle and shake. It blends well and complements my (vanilla or chocolate or cookies n creme) protein powder perfectly.

Akira Organic is simply a fantastic matcha. I'm new to matcha but now have at least one each day. I have e sampled five and this one is the least likely to clump (I tap it through a small sieve that sits on top of the cup), has the sweetest smell and flavor and froths up the most (see picture). You can't go wrong. Highest recommendation.
